Much acclaimed formats from last year will experience a sequel in 2015, like Frieze Projects and Frieze Talks. In 2014, the fair also introduced Live – a new section dedicated to ambitious performance-based installations which had excellent feedback. Frieze London is housed in a bespoke structure in The Regent’s Park, in the heart of London, within easy walking distance of the city’s West End and opens Wednesday 14 October with a Premium VIP Viewing (12 – 7pm) and regular hours from Thursday 15 October through Saturday 17 October from 12 – 7pm.

Billed by organizers as among the highlights is an “intimate encounter” by artist Amalia Ulman, who is known for her fake Instagram account that detailed her faux cosmetic surgery enhancements. In a recent interview with Art in America, the conceptual artist said, “I’m very intrigued by the relationship between female bodies and pain, and how the latter is taken for granted.”

Again, satellite Fairs accompagny the flagship institutions and showcase a refreshing roster of young emerging artists at various venues around town. One of these planets is 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair that has just returned to London after its successful New York Debut early this year. Taking place at Somerset House the Fair hosts 38 exhibititors representing north of 150 contemporary artists from Africa and the African diaspora.

1:54 is a must see for everyone interested in new currents of the art market offering a unique opportunity to enjoy contemporary African art in all mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation with a quality selection of works from across the continent.

This year it will showcase 25 international participants with solo or select group presentations.

The general mood at this undertaking  is to provides a relaxed and accessible platform for art enthusiasts and collectors.  Entrance to the fair is free and open to all.  Excititng new feature this year is an editions section with artist presentations by: Spike Island, Bristol; S1 Artspace, Sheffield; Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea and Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge.
