FRIEZE, FRIEZE MASTERS AND FRIEZE WEEK LONDON

Frieze London and Frieze Masters have just opened their doors with art enthusiasts, collectors and artists lining up for this year’s 14th edition. The fair includes more than 160 exhibitors from about 30 different countries. A dazzling 1000 artists are represented by participating galleries within a classic progamme of booth presentations as well as a host of sophisticated side events that are highlighting contemporary art in all its forms from various angles.

The much acclaimed formats of annual non-profit programmes will experience a sequel this year including Frieze Projects and the Frieze Artist Award, showing new site-specific works, as well as Frieze Film with new film commissions premiered at the fair. Also Frieze Music, the fair’s off-site music programme and Frieze Talks, a dynamic series of panel discussions, conversations and keynote lectures, will again host a number of ambitious dynamic performances.

Frieze London is housed in a bespoke structure in The Regent’s Park, in the heart of London and opens Wednesday 05 October with a Premium VIP Viewing followed by regular hours from Thursday 06 October through Sunday 09 October from 12 – 7pm. Opening on 05 October and running through January 2017 is Frieze Sculpture Park – a curated selection of twenty iconic works by 20th century masters and new commissions by upcoming talent. Leading international galleries are also extending their Frieze fair shows into the outdoor space adding to a dramatizing highlight against the unique backdrop of Regent’s Park.

Again, satellite Fairs accompany the flagship institutions of Frieze and Frieze Masters showcasing a refreshing roster of young emerging artists at various venues around town. One of these planets is 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair that has just returned to London after its successful New York Debut early this year. Taking place at Somerset House the Fair hosts 38 exhibititors representing north of 150 contemporary artists from Africa and the African diaspora.

1:54 is a must see for everyone interested in new currents of the art market offering a unique opportunity to enjoy contemporary African art in all mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation with a quality selection of works from across the continent.

Sunday, another satellite of Frieze presents a small curated suite of contemporary galleries. Now in its 6th edition Sunday first opened its doors in London in October 2010 aiming at nurturing artists and art institutiosns at the early stages in their careers. This year it will showcase 25 international participants with solo or select group presentations. The overall intention is to provide a relaxed and accessible platform for art enthusiasts and collectors – entrance to the fair is free and open to all.
